About “Offshore”

Offshore is a 1979 novel by British writer Penelope Fitzgerald, which won the Booker Prize that year. The story focuses on the emotional restlessness of people who live on houseboats, existing between land and water. Fitzgerald drew from her own experiences, as the novel was inspired by the challenging years she spent living on an old Thames sailing barge at Battersea Reach. The book reflects her personal struggles during that time. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
