Omeros, an epic poem by Caribbean writer Derek Walcott, is a five-book poem of circular narrative design named after the Greek word for Homer. It charts both the visible history of events—the tribal losses of the American Indian and the tragedy of African enslavement—and an interior, unwritten epic drawn from individual suffering in exile.
