In the midst of a prolonged July heat wave, California’s Golden State Power and Light faces a crisis when its newest and largest generator explodes, resulting in four deaths and a widespread power loss. The aftermath brings together GSP&L vice president Nim Goldman, investigative reporter Nancy Molineaux, detective Harry London, and quadriplegic Karen Sloan, whose survival depends on electric power, as a fringe group claims responsibility and the situation escalates.
