"Oysters" is a short story by Anton Chekhov that was first published in 1884 in the magazine Budilnik, issue No. 486. It was later included in Chekhov's 1886 collection Motley Stories, published in Saint Petersburg. A slightly revised version of the story appeared in 13 subsequent editions of the same collection between 1892 and 1899. The story was also included in the 1895 collection Russian Writers' Short Stories and later in Volume 3 of the first edition of The Collected Works by Anton Chekhov.
