About “Requiem of the Rose King”
Requiem of the Rose King is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aya Kanno. Based on Shakespearean plays Henry VI, Part 3 and Richard III, it reimagines Richard III as an intersex character during the Wars of the Roses (1455–1487). The series was serialized in Monthly Princess magazine from October 2013 to January 2022, with 17 collected volumes released by December 2021. It was licensed in English by Viz Media. The work has inspired multiple adaptations, including three drama CDs, two spin-off manga, an original novel, a stage play, and an anime produced by J.C.Staff that aired from January to June 2022.
