About “Roverandom”

Roverandom is a novella written by J.R.R. Tolkien, originally told in 1925. It follows the adventures of a young dog named Rover. A wizard turns Rover into a toy, and the dog embarks on a journey to the moon and under the sea to find the wizard and be turned back into a normal-sized dog. The story was written by Tolkien for his son, Michael, to amuse him after the loss of his favorite toy—a little leaden dog. Roverandom is a children's story but includes allusions and references similar to those in "Farmer Giles of Ham."
