About “Shilin Guangji”
Shilin Guangji is an encyclopedia written by Chen Yuanjing during the Yuan dynasty. It includes text in Chinese characters, Mongolian script, and the ʼPhags-pa script. Chen Yuanjing was from Chong'an in Fujian and was born in the later years of the Southern Song dynasty. The encyclopedia provides detailed information on daily life during the Mongol Empire and Yuan dynasty, featuring illustrations, maps, and cartography. It was known for being easy to understand and remained popular after the Yuan dynasty. Scholars during the Ming and Qing dynasties used it as a reference when compiling their own encyclopedias.
