At the beginning of the 20th century, a young German poet returned from a journey to Russia, where he explored a deep spirituality. He wrote a series of poems that he kept private for many years, considering them sacred and unlike anything else he had written or would write again. These poems reflect his awareness of the century's coming challenges and the struggle to maintain a relationship with the divine. The poet was Rainer Maria Rilke, and the poems are known as the Book of Hours. This collection of poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke includes these love poems to God.
