This 2008 collection brings together four novellas—Farmer Giles of Ham, Leaf by Niggle, Smith of Wootton Major, and Roverandom—and one book of poems, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, for the first time in a single volume. These works had previously been published separately between 1949 and 1998. The collection includes a new foreword and endmatter, as well as illustrations by Alan Lee. It is presented as a definitive edition of these previously scattered works. The volume is fully illustrated and offers a comprehensive gathering of Tolkien’s shorter narratives and poetic works.
