About “The Drowned and the Saved”

Primo Levi's book is a dark meditation on the meaning of the Nazi exterminations, written forty years after the events. By the end of his life, Levi had become convinced that the lessons of the Holocaust were at risk of being forgotten, as it was becoming seen as just another "routine atrocity" in history. The work reflects on the significance of the Holocaust and the danger of its memory fading. It is an essay by Primo Levi.
