Professor Peter Maxwell, an expert in supernatural phenomena, returns to Earth after an intergalactic research mission to find himself in dire trouble. Earth has made incredible advancements, including time travel, allowing creatures from different eras to coexist. Maxwell discovers a crystal planet holding vast secret knowledge, but his attempts to warn those in power are blocked when he learns he was duplicated during his journey. The duplicate returned first and was killed, leaving the real Maxwell without proof of his existence. No one believes him, and his warnings go unheeded.
