About “The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia”
The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia is a travelogue of 19th century Palestine and the wider Middle East, created by Scottish painter David Roberts. It includes 250 lithographs by Louis Haghe, based on Roberts's watercolor sketches. The work was first published between 1842 and 1849 through subscription, in two separate publications. The text was largely written by William Brockedon and George Croly, with Croly responsible for the historical sections and Brockedon for the descriptive parts.
