About “The Jungle”

The Jungle is a novel by Upton Sinclair, an American author and journalist known for exposing corruption in government and business during the early 20th century. Sinclair conducted research in the meat packing district of the Union Stock Yards in Chicago in 1904, spending seven weeks gathering information. The novel was first published in serial form in 1905 in the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason. It was later released as a book in 1906 by Doubleday.
