About “The Lion and the Mouse”
The Lion and the Mouse is a fable attributed to Aesop, numbered 150 in the Perry Index. It illustrates the theme of mutual dependence, a concept found in both Western and Eastern versions of the story. These variants emphasize that even the smallest creatures can play a significant role in helping others. During the Renaissance, a sequel was added to the fable, which criticized social ambition and reinforced the moral of humility. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
