About “The Little Pretender”
The Little Pretender is set in the Scottish Highlands in 1750, four years after the battle of Culloden Moor. Iona, a 17-year-old red-haired girl and ward of a Jacobite exile in Paris, is sent to Skaig Castle to impersonate the drowned half-sister of the Duke of Arkrae, a key figure in the Jacobite movement whose loyalty is unknown. Her mission is to determine whether the duke supports the Jacobite cause or is a traitor, but she becomes deeply in love with him, complicating her task.
