About “The Love of the Last Tycoon”

The Last Tycoon is an unfinished novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1941 after his death. It was prepared for publication by his friend Edmund Wilson. The story centers on Monroe Stahr, a film producer modeled after Irving Thalberg. The novel follows Stahr's rise to power in Hollywood and his conflicts with Pat Brady, a character based on Louis B. Mayer. It is considered a roman à clef, a fictionalized account of real people and events. The book was published posthumously and remains one of Fitzgerald's final works.
