About “The Malay Archipelago: The land of the orang-utan, and the bird of paradise. A narrative of travel, with sketches of man and nature”
The Malay Archipelago is a book by the English naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace. It details his scientific exploration of the southern part of the Malay Archipelago from 1854 to 1862. His journey covered regions that are now part of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and New Guinea. The book was published in two volumes in 1869. It was delayed due to Wallace's poor health and the time required to describe the many specimens he collected. The book had ten editions in the 1800s and has been reprinted multiple times. It has also been translated into at least twelve languages. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
