The Nature of Middle-Earth is a 2021 compilation of J.R.R. Tolkien's worldbuilding essays. It makes accessible numerous late writings by Tolkien that illuminate the creatures, animals, and plants of Middle-earth, the rise and fall of its landscapes, and the connections and divides between the dead and the living, elves and men. It contains its own chapter on the island of Numenor and its inhabitants, which becomes the setting of a Tolkien TV series.
