About “The secret speech”

In 1956, after Stalin's death, the Soviet Union begins to change as the violent regime starts to break apart. A secret manifesto, written by Stalin's successor Khrushchev, is sent to the entire country. It states that Stalin was a tyrant and a murderer and promises a transformation for the Soviet Union. However, some people are not ready to forgive or forget Stalin's harsh rule. They seek revenge for the suffering caused by his regime. This 2009 novel by Tom Rob Smith explores the tensions and conflicts that arise in a society struggling with the legacy of Stalin's rule.
