The Third Policeman is a novel written by Irish author Brian O'Nolan under the pseudonym Flann O'Brien. It was composed in 1939 and 1940 but was not published at the time. The author withdrew the manuscript and claimed it was lost. The book was finally published in 1967 by MacGibbon & Kee, more than two decades after the author's death in 1966.
