About “The Three-Cornered Hat”

In a 19th-century Andalusian town, Uncle Lucas is the shrewd and mischievous mill owner and husband to the beautiful Frasquita. Her charms draw people to the mill, including the town's corrupt official, who becomes infatuated with her and determines to have her by any means. To achieve this, he tricks Lucas into being arrested and held overnight by the mayor of a neighboring town. Alarcón presents a comedic conflict with impressionistic touches, blending realism and farce. The story features well-defined characters and unfolds effortlessly, ending with the author's omniscient and mocking tone.
