About “The Whisperer in Darkness”
The Whisperer in Darkness is a 26,000-word novella by H. P. Lovecraft, written between February and September 1930 and first published in Weird Tales in August 1931. It blends elements of horror and science fiction, similar to Lovecraft's earlier work The Colour Out of Space. While the story includes references to the Cthulhu Mythos, it is not a central part of that fictional universe. The novella marks a shift in Lovecraft's writing toward science fiction. It also introduces the Mi-Go, an extraterrestrial race of fungoid creatures. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
