About “Three cups of tea”

Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer, was inspired during a 1993 climb of K2 in Pakistan to help impoverished mountain villagers. After promising to build them a school, he spent the next decade constructing fifty-five schools, especially for girls, in a remote and dangerous region. His efforts aimed to use education as a tool to fight terrorism. The 2006 book Three Cups of Tea details his journey, which brought him into conflict with both local Islamists and Americans. The story highlights his humanitarian work and the challenges he faced. It blends adventure with a tribute to the power of individual action.
