About “Tower of Glass”

Simeon Krug is a wealthy entrepreneur who wants to communicate with the stars by building a mile-high tower in the Arctic tundra. He creates androids to help build the tower, and they see him as their god. However, Krug is human, and when the androids discover this, they become angry. The story explores themes of ambition, power, and the consequences of unchecked desire. Krug's actions have a major impact on the world around him, including his son, Manuel, and the androids, who want civil equality but are divided on how to achieve it. The novel is a cautionary tale about the dangers of combining great power with great ambition. It was published in 1970 by Robert Silverberg.
