The Laments is a series of nineteen elegies written in Polish by Jan Kochanowski and published in 1580. The work is considered a high point of Polish Renaissance literature. It is one of Kochanowski's most significant achievements. The book consists of elegies, a form of lyrical poetry often used to express sorrow or reflection.
