About “Tripartite Tractate”
The Tripartite Tractate is a Valentinian Gnostic work from the Nag Hammadi library. It is the second-longest text in the collection and the fifth tractate of the first codex, known as the Jung Codex. The text is untitled but gets its name from being divided into three parts by decorative markings. The first part discusses the relationship between the Father, the Logos, the Church, and the aeons. The second part presents a Gnostic creation story, in which humanity is created by the Demiurge and consists of both spiritual and material elements.
