About “Vies imaginaires”

Imaginary Lives is a collection of twenty-two semi-biographical short stories by Marcel Schwob, first published in 1896. The work blends real historical figures with imaginative elements, making it one of the earliest examples of biographical fiction. It influenced Jorge Luis Borges, who referenced it in his 1935 book A Universal History of Infamy. Borges also translated the final story, "Burke and Hare, Assassins," into Spanish. The collection is recognized for its unique approach to storytelling and its impact on literary history. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
