Vom Kriege is a treatise on military strategy by Carl von Clausewitz. It presents war as "politics by other means" and focuses on defeating the enemy by concentrating overwhelming force at a vulnerable point. According to Clausewitz, the governing elite sets clear objectives and selects the most efficient method to achieve them. If force is deemed necessary, war is chosen. The war is considered won once the objectives are met, regardless of the situation on the battlefield. The work is required reading for officer cadets in military academies worldwide. Written in the 18th century, it remains relevant today.
