La Guerre des boutons (The War of the Buttons) is a 1912 novel by French author Louis Pergaud, who was from the Franche-Comté region. The story follows a conflict between two groups of children from the villages of Longeverne and Velrans. The war is fought over collecting buttons by cutting them from each other's clothing. The narrative is primarily told from the perspective of the children in Longeverne. Pergaud drew inspiration from his time teaching in the village of Landresse, also in Franche-Comté.
