About “Wedding Preparations in the Country”
"Wedding Preparations in the Country" is an incomplete story by Franz Kafka, written between 1907 and 1908. It follows the journey of the groom, Raban, as he travels to the country to meet his future wife, Betty. The story exists in three surviving fragments with missing pages. Kafka's friend Max Brod published the fragments after his death, and Brod believed Kafka intended to expand the story into a novel. An English translation of the fragments is included in The Complete Stories of Franz Kafka. The work remains unfinished and was not published during Kafka's lifetime.
