About “Zhifang Waiji”
The Zhifang Waiji was an atlas created by Italian Jesuits in Ming China during the early seventeenth century. The title translates to "External Lands Beyond the Zhifang Si," referring to the Imperial cartography office. It was the first detailed atlas of global geography produced in Chinese.
