About “Earth Awakens”

Earth Awakens is the story of humanity's first encounter with an alien species known as the Formics. Set nearly 100 years before the events of Ender's Game, the novel follows humans who have begun expanding into the Solar System, with a small presence in the asteroid belts, a few space stations, and a corporate settlement on the Moon. No one expects to meet another space-faring race, but a young navigator spots an alien ship moving rapidly toward the Sun. The ship disrupts communication across human outposts, leaving Earth and Luna unaware of the invasion until the alien vessel arrives in Earth's orbit and begins landing forces in China. Political delays and corporate interests slow the human response, but a few individuals recognize the urgency of the situation and the threat to Earth's survival.
