About “Smiley's People”

Smiley's People is a 1979 spy novel by John le Carré. It is the third and final book in the "Karla Trilogy," following Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Honourable Schoolboy. The story centers on George Smiley, a retired British spy who is brought back to investigate the death of a former Soviet general. The general was the leader of an Estonian émigré group in London and had uncovered information that could lead to a final showdown with Smiley’s long-time enemy, the Soviet spymaster Karla. The novel concludes the trilogy by resolving the central conflict between Smiley and Karla. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
