This 2003 novel by Michael Connelly follows Bosch, who took a case file with him when he left the LAPD: the murder of a production assistant during a movie set robbery four years earlier. The LAPD believes the stolen money financed a terrorist training camp, and when Bosch reinvestigates the original murder, he angers both his old colleagues and the FBI, while his private investigation brings him back into contact with an old friend and shadows from his past.
