Michael Connelly is an American crime fiction writer born on July 21, 1956, best known for his long-running series featuring LAPD Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch. He worked as a crime journalist before turning to fiction, and his novels are celebrated for their gritty, procedural authenticity set against the backdrop of Los Angeles. His work has been translated into 39 languages and he served as President of the Mystery Writers of America in 2003–2004.
