All Bombay is buzzing with news of the murder of Anil Ajmani, a millionaire found stabbed to death in his heavily guarded mansion. The case is baffling, and every inspector in the Crime Branch hopes to solve it, including Inspector Ganesh Ghote. However, he is not assigned to the murder case. Instead, he is given the task of tracking down a cat burglar known as Yeshwant, who has been stealing jewelry from apartment buildings at night. With the help of his old friend Axel Svensson, who has come to India seeking warmth from his troubles in Sweden, Ghote works to uncover Yeshwant's identity. In the process, he unexpectedly finds himself on the trail of the murder of Anil Ajmani.
