About “The monster in the box”

Chief Inspector Wexford is troubled by the return of Eric Targo, a man he has long suspected of stalking him and committing murders, including the strangling of Elsie Carroll years earlier, for which her husband was suspected but never convicted. Another woman is strangled soon after, and Wexford believes Targo is the killer as he investigates a new case.
