About “Trace”

Dr. Kay Scarpetta returns to Richmond, Virginia, after being called by the new Chief Medical Examiner, who claims to need her help. Upon arrival, she discovers that her former laboratory is being demolished, the real requester of her help is unclear, and her old assistant is dealing with personal issues. A glamorous FBI agent, disliked by Marino, interferes with the investigation. Scarpetta is also separated from her colleagues Benton and Lucy, who are dealing with an unrelated stalker incident. She investigates the death of a fourteen-year-old girl, relying on small traces of evidence to uncover the truth, facing a painful reality she may not be prepared to accept.
