About “Liberty bar”
Superintendent Maigret is out of place on the Côte d'Azur, where the bright colors and vacationers contrast with his formal attire. He is called to investigate the murder of William Brown, an Australian man living in squalor with a dramatic mistress and her controlling mother. Brown's only known habit is a monthly binge. Maigret prefers to relax rather than dig into the case, which seems trivial. The story explores men who break free from their constraints and those who do not, as well as how love and tenderness can exist even in the most corrupt environments. The novel was written by Georges Simenon.
