The Moomins and the Great Flood is a 1945 novel by Finnish author Tove Jansson. It features the Moomins and marks their first appearance in a book. The story takes place during the end of World War II and is sometimes considered a prequel to the main Moomin series, as many characters are introduced in the following book. It was the last Moomin book to be translated into English. A limited hardback edition was published by Schildts in 2005 to mark 60 years of the Moomins.
