About “Aru Shah and the City of Gold”

Aru Shah and her sisters, including a new sibling who claims to be the Sleeper's daughter, must find their mentors Hanuman and Urvashi in Lanka, the city of gold, before a war erupts between the devas and asuras. Aru made a wish on the tree of wishes but cannot remember what it was. She is unsure if she still wants to fight for the devas against the Sleeper and his demon army, especially after the gods have been deceptive. Kubera, the ruler of Lanka, offers the Pandavas powerful weapons if they win his trials, but losing would leave them unprepared for the Sleeper's forces. Aru struggles with trust, wondering why the adults she loved have failed her. She must come to terms with their actions before facing the battle of her life. The novel is written by Roshani Chokshi and published in 2021.
