About “The Case of the Silent Partner”

The story follows Mildred Faulkner, who owns and runs three successful flower shops with her sister Carlotta. Carlotta has been ill for months, leaving Mildred to manage the business alone. The sisters own all the company stock except for a few shares given to an early employee. A competitor has acquired those shares and plans to use them to interfere with their business. Mildred goes to see Carlotta, but her sister's affairs are now managed by her husband, Bob, whom Mildred dislikes. Bob is irresponsible and may be unfaithful, but Carlotta remains unaware. Mildred asks Bob for the stock certificates to seek legal help, but he avoids her. She suspects he may have given the certificates to a gambler as collateral for a debt. Panicked, she contacts Perry Mason, but before he can act, someone is killed, and Mildred faces even greater trouble.
