There is a saying that the whole of Western Philosophy is footnotes of Plato, as his writings established the framework that philosophy has followed since. His works, influenced by Socrates, are considered among the world's greatest literature. In The Gorgias, like most of Plato's dialogues, formal logic is not yet present. The dialogue is divided into three parts, each corresponding to the characters Gorgias, Polus, and Callicles, with the form and style changing as the argument progresses.
