Plato was an ancient Greek philosopher of Classical Athens who is considered a foundational thinker of the Western philosophical tradition. He was an innovator of the literary dialogue and dialectic forms and influenced all major areas of theoretical and practical philosophy. Plato founded the Academy, a philosophical school in Athens where he taught the collection of philosophical theories that would later become known as Platonism. He was a Classical Greek philosopher.
