About “Parmenides”

Parmenides is one of the dialogues of Plato, widely considered the most challenging and enigmatic of his works. It purports to recount a meeting in Athens between Parmenides and Zeno of Elea of the Eleatic school and a young Socrates, occasioned by Zeno's reading of his treatise defending Parmenidean monism. It is chronologically the earliest of Plato's dialogues, with Socrates only nineteen, so he takes the unusual position of student while Parmenides lectures.
