About “Prologue”

The Prologue is the opening section of the Prose Edda, a literary work by Snorri Sturluson. It presents a euhemerized version of Norse mythology, suggesting that the Norse gods originated from the Trojans mentioned in Homer's poetry. According to the text, the Norse gods are descendants of King Priam. Priam's grandson, Thor, left Thrace and traveled the world, fighting monsters and a dragon. He eventually settled far to the north, where he married a local woman named Sif. Their descendants include both the Norse gods and the royal families of various northern kingdoms.
