This 2006 novel follows Will and Evanlyn as they flee slavery in Skandia. Their attempt to return to Araluen is disrupted when Evanlyn is captured by a Temujai warrior. Will, still weakened by poison, is outnumbered by enemy scouts but is rescued by old friends. They soon discover that the entire Temujai army has invaded Skandia, and Araluen is now at risk. To save the two kingdoms, an unlikely alliance must form. Will and his allies face the challenge of uniting past enemies to fight a new and ruthless enemy.
