Lord Asheye of Salamandastron has a prophecy that a new Badger Lord must take his place and rule over the legendary badger fortress. The prophecy points to a young warrior who avoids armor and sword, but no one knows who he is. Mad Maudie, a determined haremaid from the Long Patrol, is sent to find him. Meanwhile, the future Badger Lord is captured by Sea Raiders led by the fox Vizka Longtooth, who plans to attack Redwall Abbey. The young hero must defend Redwall in order to fulfill his destiny as the leader of Salamandastron. This is the plot of a 2007 novel by Brian Jacques.
