About “Clutch of constables”

Five Days Out of Time is a 1968 novel by Ngaio Marsh. It follows Inspector Alleyn as he investigates a murder aboard a cruise on a misted English river. The passengers include a variety of unusual individuals, such as hygienically questionable Americans, an Ethiopian doctor, a suspicious cleric, and an artist avoiding her fame. However, not all are as they appear. Alleyn discovers that one of the passengers is "Jampot," a faceless killer who can assume different identities. He has five days to identify the killer before the other passengers are in danger, including his own wife. The story is a mystery centered on deception and suspense.
