About “Smoke Mountain”

The book follows a group of bears—polar bear Kallik and Taqqiq, black bear Lusa, grizzly Toklo, and shape-shifting Ujurak—as they search for a fabled bear paradise. They believe this place offers safety and plenty, but their journey is filled with danger. The Smoke Mountains are especially treacherous, and the bears face many challenges, including a rushing river and hostile humans. One bear leaves the group permanently, causing tension. As the others continue, they must rely on their strength and determination. When they finally reach their destination, they discover that what they thought was the end of their journey is actually the start of something new. This is the third book in a series.
